The town of Opelousas, Louisiana’s “Yambilee” has been going on since 1946, actually the original French settlers of the town thought that yams were quite yamtastic so they began cultivating yams leading to Louisiana’s production of yams to this day. It’s almost like a yam homecoming of sorts, yes, there is a yam king and queen. Sorry, no yam wrestling or “The World’s Largest Yam” but we can dream.

Moral of the story: Even turtles know what is yam right….
We know that yams get our motor running, but did you know that yams are actually being made into fuel? Inedible sweet potatoes are actually being developed to be turned into ethanol in countries such as China. Seriously, yams give you gas.
Remember that song “I Am I Said” by Neil Diamond?
Well here’s a yamtastic parody called “I Yam I Said”
